Corpus is delighted to announce that Mandi Furaji (Biochemistry) is one of the six Oxford students featured in this year’s Future Leaders magazine on page 41.

The 2020-21 edition of Future Leaders can be read online here.

The magazine, published annually, showcases the academic success, future potential, and inspirational stories of the UK’s most outstanding African and African Caribbean students and new graduates.  This is the fourth year in a row that the University, as part of its commitment and work to encourage more UK black students to consider applying to Oxford, has sponsored the publication.

Since it first sponsored Future Leaders, the University has seen an increase in the number of Black African and African Caribbean heritage undergraduates, rising to 3.2% of the undergraduate student body.

There is more it wants to do for both prospective and current Black students and Corpus actively supports two of these initiatives, the UNIQ residential and digital programme for Year 12 students and Target Oxbridge, a programme providing mentoring and admissions support for students of Black African and African Caribbean descent.

Mandi is East African Officer for the Oxford African Caribbean Society. She tries to engage more university members of East African descent through ACS events.

Another Corpus student Effie Amah-Tetteh (Classics) is this year’s Vice President of the ACS.  December’s issue of the Sundial featured Effie on its back page.  To read her article click here.
