Enjoy the life of the Chapel, of music making and worship, in the lovely intimacy of our Chapel. The main weekly service is on Sunday at 5.45pm, and is usually Choral Evensong or a Sung Eucharist (Holy Communion).
Sung Services
Music plays a large part in our worship, drawing upon the rich tradition of sacred music from across the centuries to praise God and deepen our sense of his loving presence. Services include a sermon which shares and explores the meaning of the Good News of Christ, and we welcome visiting preachers to represent an ecumenical range of Christian denominations and theological traditions.
Evensong
This is a service of the Word, drawing profoundly on the Bible. There is always a Psalm, two Bible readings (one each from the Old and New Testaments) and two ‘canticles' (songs) from the Gospel of Luke, known as the Magnificat and the Nunc Dimittis (Luke 1.46-55 and 2.29-32). We offer prayers for the needs of the world.
Sung Eucharist
This is also known as Holy Communion, the Lord's Supper or the Mass. It is service of Word and Sacrament, again profoundly rooted in the Scriptures.
If you are baptised or have communicant status in your own denomination, you’re welcome to receive Holy Communion.
Weekday Services
During the week there are occasional informal said services of Holy Communion at lunchtime, followed by sandwiches. Compline (the ‘Night Office’) is sung a few times a term, followed by hot chocolate and cake.
